My story

The OLLIE Foundation is a suicide prevention charity based in Hertfordshire. OLLIE was set up in 2016 by three parents who had each lost a son to suicide. They met in bereavement support, and vowed to do all they could to stop another parent going through what they were experiencing.

OLLIE is an acronym and stands for one life lost is enough, and our mission is to create an environment where no young person ever feels like suicide is their only option.

As a small but dedicated team of 4 staff and 3 volunteers, we deliver suicide prevention training, mental health and holistic wellbeing workshops to young people and those who support them (parents, teachers, and professionals).

The funds raised from this sponsored walk will help team OLLIE deliver more suicide prevention and intervention skills based training across Hertfordshire and beyond. Together, we can all help create suicide safer communities, and our training equips individuals with the tools and skills necessary to keep others and themselves safe from suicide.

Since 2016 we have trained over 10,000 people, 5,000 of whom have been trained over the last year alone. We currently offer a fully funded places provision for anyone who needs one on our training courses. Funds raised from this walk would ensure that we can continue to do this so that finance or circumstance is not a barrier for anyone accessing support they may need.
